I recently had an ironic conversation with a friend from college who I haven't talked to in a while.  He told me I should analyze things less and do what feels right more.  Probably knowing that I would interpret him as telling me never to analyze anything, he told me that's not what he meant.  Instead, I need to balance analysis and doing what ( Read more... )

Haha, I had this same conversation with one of my co-workers when I started back at work!

I personally have decided that since I can't stop myself from analyzing things in the first place, I simply need to recognize the point at which additional analysis isn't telling me anything I haven't thought of before.

Alternatively, I should attempt to predict all odd, unusual, and discombobulating circumstances ahead of time and analyze them then, so by the time they actually hapen to me, I may be somewhat prepared.

Can you stop yourself from analyzing things when you reach a point where it's gotten repetitive?

Maybe. Occasionally. (I usually wind up trying to trick myself into quitting by telling myself I need new information to analyze, and end up analyzing the situation to figure out where I might find new information...)
