I'm glad you wrote this post, because I was having trouble putting into words some of the things that felt off with me about the movie. Except for the horrible treatment of Rachel *eye roll*. I agree with you; it felt really disconnected from the first movie. I especially missed the banter between Bruce, Alfred, and Lucius. They had a little bit in the beginning, at least (although that "I told you so" exchange felt a bit forced to me.) And I don't remember them being so heavy handed, last movie, with the explaining to the audience what was going on, like the continued dialogue about "Life isn't easy being Batman, but he does it because he's, I don't know, super keen or something"; but I suppose his situation wasn't so muddled
( ... )
No problem! I usually don't write responses this long, since I usually don't care much, but it's Batman! I love me some Batman.
But yes, we lost a lot of Bruce's interactions with people. Which is sad, but still sort of makes sense, since it is the Joker's and Dent's move.
BTW, you do mean Jim Carrey as the Riddler, right? Jack Nicholson was the Joker in the first Batman movie. And yes, this Joker freaked me out quite a bit.
Oldman also owns all. He's so excellent as Gordon.
Yeah, I think it'd be like the Joker to do that, but the people on the boats didn't really seem to consider it as a possibility, so at the very least, they thought it was a prisoner's dilemma game?
And I do wish we had some Oracle in this 'verse. Maybe Nolan's really against sidekicks, but Oracle would fit nicely. And yeah, not a big fan of that whole ending with the kidnapping and such. Boo on Gordon's daughter getting no respect.
Please tell me there are Batman/Iron Man crossovers somewhere. People are all, Oh, Bruce/Harvey, or Alfred/Lucius, but all I want is some BRUCE/TONY NOW, thanks.

I was sad that Batgirl wasn't older and Gordon's favorite.

Bruce/Tony would be one seriously screwed up trainwreck waiting to happen. (You'll write some, right?)
