I honestly thought I was doing so well, being a responsible adult, taking my job seriously, getting bills paid on time...then shit like this happens.
You work situation sounds extremely stressful, and I support taking the steps necessary to bring anxiety/anger levels down. Sure, post-feelings we'd like to say we should have acted this way or that, but I hardly think you're out of line. I've seen way too many people with less reason do sillier things. Anyhow, having a subpar manager can make such a huge difference, and break a job if they're bad enough (or on the other side of the coin, make a shitty job awesome if they're good enough).
The economy definitely won't make it easy to get another job, but it's doable. Between the several people I know who are or had been looking for a new job in the past year, the ones that managed had to keep at it for several months.
In my opinion, you are doing well. It's no joke that common sense is so rare that it might as well be a super power. Good luck with your current workplace and I hope some

Thanks...I have a tendency to second-guess myself pretty much all the time, so it's good getting an outside perspective. I always feel 100% justified, 'cause...well, obviously I'm going to take my own side, but I always wonder if maybe I'm just delusional.
My biggest issue with the job hunt has actually been the people that I work with. I have seen people that should never be hired anywhere - who show up consistently late, leave early, slack off, mouth off...behavior that shocked and appalled me when it happened because these people still have jobs. How do people like that even get hired?
I don't doubt that I'll find something, I just have to put more effort into it and keep at it...the good news is I have a couple of really good references from this job (both people who have moved on, surprise surprise), so at the very least, there's that.
Yikes. I was getting stressed just reading about your work stress......sorry you're going through all that. It's hard to feel like you're the only one that cares about how the job is going or cares about the little every day things that go into making a work day one that you just work, as opposed to making it through

Thanks...I've been in stressful work situations before, but this is just...wow. I'm not fired, in any case, or even written up - I was right about them being too desperate to really punish me at all
