the school where I teach held a college/career fair today, and among the usual doctors, lawyers, and investment bankers, were: a screenwriter, a producer/director, and the drummer from No Doubt.

my yearbook deadline is a month past due (through no fault of mine) and if we don't get everything in by Monday we won't get it before the end of the school year (for the second year in a row, also not my fault since I wasn't advisor last year), I left work at 9:45 p.m. yesterday (Friday), got to campus today (Saturday) at around 9:00 a.m. and left ( Read more... )

Monday, one of my kids asked me if Barack Obama is "Iraqian," today, another one told the class about how he heard Osama Bin Laden on the radio yesterday urging everyone to get out and vote.

so, today I had a meeting with a financial analyst who came to our school last week to sign teachers up for a 403b program; it ended in my nearly calling security to have her removed from my classroom! think I'm kidding? read on.
