It's been some time since he's been outside, not since first coming to Kirkwall. He may have learned to tolerate the Ferelden Circle, and even find moments he could enjoy it. In the Gallows, however, contentment was far more difficult to obtain, particularly when you went to sleep at night to the ominous creaking of cell doors and the muffled ( Read more... )

The sun-bronzed elvhen looked up when a mage entered the Alienage. Catching his eye, and purposely pulling the Warden amulet from her armor to catch the sunlight, she waited on the bench in the afternoon sun. This one would need hiding and would need to know his options just like the ones who sought safety before him.

[Karl's eyes catch the stray reflection and he looks to the elven woman sitting alone on the bench, obviously beckoning him. After a moment's hesitation, he walks over, looking around for anything out of place. The only other humans around was a couple dressed worse than the elves, and too malnourished to be templars in hiding.

He'd never known an elf to join the templars, although, they could be bought by them. However, this early in his escape, the templars would be focused completely on hunting him, not bribing people for his whereabouts. He walked over and took a seat beside her. It would be less conspicuous to be seated and talking with the stranger than standing and shifting his weight back and forth as he prepared to run. An escape was all about not looking out of place.]

The silver-haired elf tucked the amulet back under her armor and setting her hand back on the bench, touched the side of his thigh. A soft mental voice just on the outside of his barriers 'spoke', 'You seek safety.' Not a question. 'There are several locations, tell this Asha what would make you happy.'

[Karl tilts his head in curiosity. What spell was this, now? He'd question if it was blood magic, but there was no evidence of injury from the woman at his side. No, most certainly not blood magic.]

I have a friend in this city. I'd like to find him. [He lowers his voice even further than it's low tone.] Do you know of the healer in Darktown?

Ella has to do a double take when she spots Karl. Then she does another double take when she looks for the sun icon on his forehead and doesn't see one. Oh, bloody Kirkwall, you've outdone yourself this time. She does a quick check around for templars and, seeing none, she quietly slips over to him.

"Karl, my name is Ella... I'm a mage as well. Let's get you out of the public eye, shall we?" Her hand flickers with a brief flame to show she's not lying in an attempt to gain his trust.

Is it just me, or is he incredibly cute when he smiles? ratherdieamage November 27 2011, 02:21:37 UTC
[His lips quirk.] Even fellow mages can't always be trusted, Miss. I've seen a few who'd turn on their fellows for favor with the templars. [His tone does not suggest any distrust on his part, though.]

However... you look very familiar. Where have we met?

"True" she returns his smile. "Ella Hawke. A... friend of Anders."

She'd been hoping to leave that part out, not wanting to shock the man. But she answers questions honestly and, well, she really wants to get him out of the streets.

You should see the video I got this from ;) It had Karl and Anders making out ratherdieamage November 27 2011, 02:58:47 UTC
Anders? Is he alright? We've been exchanging letters, and I remember... I remember the templars finding them... but... [He shakes his head as he tries to remember what happened after, and fails.] I don't know what in the Maker's name happened. I can't... If you know where he is, please take me to him.

Oh, no. Oh, Maker, no.

That's impossible. That cannot be Karl...he killed Karl, Karl had been tranquil and begged for death...

Maker, that can't be...

"...Karl...?"

[Karl catches the too small voice, a tone he's heard on only a handful of occasions, and turns to it's owner. He's both relieved and concerned at Anders' appearance. It's been too long, and Anders looks ashen. Karl immediately goes to his side and puts a hand on his shoulder.]

Anders, are you alright? I've been worried for you. I wasn't sure if the templars hadn't gotten you. They found your letters, but... I can't... I don't remember what happened after they found them.

Maker's breath, he doesn't know. Has it not happened? Did he escape? What...

He shakes his head quietly. No. It doesn't matter. This is Karl, alive and full of emotion and free...

He pulls Karl into his arms into a crushing hug, burying his face in the other man's shoulder, trying to fight back sobs.

[Karl returns the hug, his worry heightening. He rubs at Anders' back in slow circles as he feels the tension in his friend's body.]

I-it's alright, Anders. We're both fine. [His voice is nothing more than a whisper, with Anders' hair brushing against his lips.]

Nellie had been careful ever since coming to Kirkwall. She spent most of her time hiding, first in Darktown, and then later in her sister and cousin's estate in Hightown. She does go out every so often, to see Cullen, to run errands, to let Kiwi get some air...it's risky, but she usually doesn't draw much attention, even if she's accompanied by her pet nug.

So its one of her days outside when she sees somebody she never thought she'd see again. Karl. The mage who had been one of her favorite teachers in the Tower...who had helped her flee while they were all en route to Kirkwall.

"Maker's Breath...Karl?"

[Karl's eyebrows raise in shock at this unexpected, but not unwelcome, run in.] Nellie, dear girl, it's good to see you. [He smiles.] And outside of the Circle no less; even better. Since it appears you've been doing well for yourself staying out of the templars' grasp, would you mind giving a bit of advice to your old teacher about the best places to hide in this city?

She grins at him, a little sheepish.

"It helps to have friends...I'm living with Solona and my cousin Marian. I didn't even know I had a cousin until I got here! I know that Sol would be happy to see you..."

Nellie lowers her voice a bit.

"How have you been, avoiding the templar's?"

I don't think they've realized I've escaped yet, but I'm sure that won't last very long. I was planning to hide out in Darktown. Word around the Gallows is that it's the best place to hide. The templars are cautious because of the disease, and it's crowded, so it's easy for someone who doesn't want to be found to get lost.
