Leandra sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. It had been a long, long day, several of them in fact. A chance to get out of Kirkwall for a while had been appealing, and an opportunity to complete multiple tasks, but the trip was beginning to wear thin by this point.
At least she had Hawke with her. Not at this precise moment; her daughter was attending a diplomatic meeting of some sort with Sebastian, who'd accompanied them in an attempt to drum up support for his future attempt to reclaim the throne, as well as to gauge for himself the state of things in his home country. In normal circumstances this would have been very dangerous, so he'd asked Hawke to accompany him. Starkhaven couldn't afford to attack Sebastian or his companions while he had the Champion of Kirkwall near to hand. Apart from being suicidal, it'd start a war. The idiot who was holding the throne in his place was stupid, but not that stupid, and his advisors certainly weren't that foolish.
It wouldn't have been enough to convince Hawke to go, but Leandra had stated that she wanted to go to Starkhaven herself, to visit a few old friends--and to deliver four of the mage-children that had been rescued a few months ago. Daniella was staying with Ella, but it'd been deemed wise to get the others out of Kirkwall. There wasn't a Circle anymore in Starkhaven, and the Templars were overstretched; the children would be safer here, and Leandra had an acquaintance who did a great deal of charity work, including finding homes for orphaned children. Hawke had initially forbade her mother to go. Leandra had just as determinedly stated that she was going and her daughter could lump it. Hawke had argued for a while, clearly worried about the dangers of the journey, and finally agreed to come herself. She probably would still have argued, but Ella was back in Kirkwall to protect the rest of their family, and there was no one else Hawke would have trusted for the job except her sister/other self.
Leandra sighed again. Amongst her many reasons for taking this trip was the faint hope that a change of scenery would help her daughter, but while the challenge of a new location was a distraction for Hawke, she was as distant as ever. Leandra was running out of ideas.
Her foot slipped, and she lost her balance briefly, colliding sideways into someone.
ooc: So this is the next step in the Hawke-Anders breakup plot thing that
andersawake and I have going on, clearly. This post is mostly so Leandra can run into Anders, but if you want to have come along on the trip as well, or are a Sebastian and want to play politics with Hawke, by all means tag in!
