I've wondered what would happen if these two met, but they never had a chancetry_winging_itSeptember 17 2011, 02:33:28 UTC
Hawke was annoyed.
Her mother didn't pressure her. Not exactly. Leandra knew better, given her own history. It was more that Leandra hoped that the more people Hawke met, the more likely it was that she'd fall madly in love with one of them and settle down and stop going on mad quests that put her in danger. Hawke suspected that last was really the heart of it: Leandra was terrified of losing another child as she'd lost Carver.
So Hawke gritted her teeth and played along, to an extent. Her mother's happiness was important to her, but that didn't make it any easier when Leandra "suggested" that she go talk to that surly-looking fellow with the biceps of an archer, who was apparently the son of an important Ferelden house. Hawke sighed, but complied, walking over.
She wasn't obedient enough to stick to proper conversational topics, however.
LOL Chaos? Destruction? People falling to their knees and praying to the Maker for deliverance?howe_its_doneSeptember 17 2011, 02:38:01 UTC
"That depends doesn't it." Nathaniel grunted back, turning to look at the woman beside him. She was lovely looking which surprised him as to why she might have come over to talk to him. Most beautiful women avoided him, "How happy are you to be here, Lady?"
Probably nothing THAT drastic! Though it could be arranged. ;)try_winging_itSeptember 17 2011, 18:50:44 UTC
"Not very," Hawke said straightforwardly. "These parties are mind-numbingly boring at best and sickening at worst. There's usually good food and good wine, and if you're very lucky it's possible to find good company, but for the most part it's all small talk, political manuverings, and underacknowledged marriage negotiations." She grinned. "Since I prefer to speak my mind and have no interest in marriage yet, it leaves me without much to do. And you? How do you amuse yourself at events like this, when you can?"
I'm sure it could xDhowe_its_doneSeptember 18 2011, 02:07:53 UTC
"I imagine shooting arrows into people." Nate responds, leaning back against the wall and sipping his wine. "Or I read lips and imagine what they're really thinking behind the false smiles."
"Nathaniel Howe?" she smirks, slowly striding towards him. It was a bit of a challenge thanks to her heels. "Someone made an effort to look extra dashing tonight."
"For what it's worth, I think you look handsome tonight," she smiles at him, taking his drink from his hands and sipping from it. "And parties aren't half bad either. But I can tell from the look on your face that you're hardly enjoying."
"The best part about parties like these are the unlimited amounts of wine you're allowed to snag from those poor sod's trays," a voice says beside Nathaniel. Anders stands there, sipping from his drink smugly. "But it's an excuse to look good. You don't look half bad yourself, Nate."
"It's an excuse to make me want to throw myself off the top of the keep." Nate growls back grumpily, "And to waste an excessive amount of money so that nobles can show themselves off to one another. The matchmaking mothers, the strutting bucks, flirting heiresses....it's all here..."
"Don't forget the drunkards," Anders laughs. "But if Oghren saw the way these people drink, he'd be furious. Then bring out his special brew." He chuckles as he takes another sip from his wine.
"But the wine tastes excellent, you have to admit."
"That would be because it's some of the best sovreigns can buy..." Nathaniel rolls his eyes at Anders, and sips his wine, "People do have expensive tastes when they are noble."
Wanna have an Amaranthine party? :Dsnarky_tabrisSeptember 17 2011, 04:29:54 UTC
Bianca sighs, tugging at the hem of her dress. She hates these formal parties. She hates these formal dresses...she doesn't care if she's supposed to be used to wearing them, being Arlessa and Queen and everything, she still hates them.
The nobles acting so fake and pretentious, smiling while dark thoughts swirl through their minds...she hates it. Bianca can't trust any of them. They've already tried to kill her once, after all...
The fact that she's not allowed to have her weapons with her doesn't help either.
But she brightens up the minute she sees Nate, looking just as bored and irritated as she feels. So she practically bounces over. They can hate the whole party together.

"You're going to need to explain better what you mean." he responded, frowning slightly.

"So, you look about as happy to be here as I am."

She shrugs and smirks at him.
"See, you're at least honest. Why do I let Varel make me do these stupid parties?"
