"Fine," Harry said, managing not to sound too hurt. He had just saved Draco's life again, hadn't he? It wasn't like Draco and Pansy hadn't ever almost killed his girlfriend.
There was a roar of anger from beyond, and Harry realised the trick must have been uncovered. "Shit. Come on, we have to find Nagini."
Draco nodded and followed Harry up the hill, his wand tingling in his hand. It could feel the rush of magic all around it. And it knew it would soon get to share in it as well. This was the endgame.
They found a back entrance guarded by two Death Eaters, but it was the work of a moment to force their way through. Hary felt a rush of confidence - if it was this easy, after Draco's lessons, he could actually do this!
"Which way?" he asked, once they were in the darkened corridor, the sounds of battle filtering through the walls and door.
Draco closed his eyes for a moment, trying to recall every detail of his time spent in the house.
"Down here," he said after a moment, pointing down a gloomy corridor, "then up some stairs and to the right. That's Nagini's room. Wormtail's constantly feeding her rats and...other things."
They reached the door in question, and Draco's movements became slow and careful. With a swish of his wand he checked for traps on the doorknob. There were two, that he could tell, and he dispelled them both. Now he stood ready to pull the door open, and nodded at Harry.
Severus watched from a window and had seen the orange sparks fly off. The girls had failed, he let out a growl of indignation and as he heard the door open he hid in the shadows. He rose his wand prepared for anything but instead of the boys a woman stood in front of him.
The only woman he ever cared for.
"What are you doing here?" He said in one quick breath and the woman just stood there, tall and elegant as always.
"My son is out there Severus." She said with her hands in that little gesture that it always was when she was hoping to strike a bargain.
"He got himself into this."
"You can get him out of it!"
Severus then heard the door click as the protection fell from the doorknob. He gritted his teeth and force the woman to hide behind one of the pillars.
"Once more taking tasks far too superior for yourself."
Draco threw open the door and followed on Harry's heels as the Gryffindor rushed into the room. Nagini wasn't there, at least not that he could currently see. But there was someone else there, and the sight of him made Draco smile cruelly. "Hello professor," he said, stretching out his arm and casting a silent disarming hex.
(ooc: I apologize for my late respond I couldn't get to the school wireless this weekend.)
Severus had heard the door open and the steps on the floor. As he prepared himself with silent charms he heard a cruel voice and merely rolled his eyes. The boy couldn't be cruel even if he tried.
The man dispelled the charm being thrown at him and saw out of the corner of his eye the woman still kneeling behind a pillar.
He casted a silent expelliarmus with his wand pointing to Draco. "Still find the need to announce yourself for attention I see boy."
