Why: Because that boy has some serious issues that require a consultation.
Earlier in the day, Ernie had been feeling fairly normal. He had been busy and hassled by a wonderful conglomeration of prefect duties and homework, but everything had eventually worked out for the best. He had tidied it all up in enough time to scoot down to the library for some extra studying after dinner.
But now there was the Ball, and he was remembering again that night just two weeks ago, and the slightest whisper from that first year at the carrel one over from him was enough to distract him from the book that he was attempting to read. There was no focus anymore.
It was a good thing that Padma was coming to sort him out, because Ernie wasn't sure how much longer his brain could take this explosion of thoughts before he just went completely mental.
