Nymphadora Tonks was a respected Auror. Though she had her faults, such as running into things and being very clumsy in general, Tonks loved being an Auror. Meeting prospective Aurors was always fun for Tonks, and she tried to help in any way she could with the newbies, as she liked to call them.
Getting to the Leaky Cauldron a little earlier than she had told Cho, Tonks told Tom the innkeeper that she was planning on meeting a student and found a private booth to sit in.
