WHAT: Piano recital.
WHEN: July 21.
WHERE: Padma's house.

Padma sat at the bench, her palms sweating and her fingers freezing. Padma liked to call this little thing hand menopause... mostly because it felt like her hands were going through hot flashes. This happened whenever she was nervous. In a pianist's case, having cold fingers is a very bad thing because it means your fingers can't keep up or they'll get tied. This was always bothersome to Padma. Being nervous made her so frustrated.

Padma started to play an easy little warm-up piece to start on her piano, even though she had been playing all day. After she was done with this, she started to play a Franz Liszt piece. More specifically, she played Totentanz, translated to Dance of Death. It was a very complicated piece meant for an orchestra to be played with it, though Padma didn't have an orchestra. She was actually going to play this piece later in the concert, only an hour away, with her piano teacher playing on a different piano the orchestral part.

Padma continued to play the piece with great feeling and dynamics, not even realizing that someone had walked in and started to listen.
