Who should I vote for in the Democratic Primary? I'm not as well-informed this year as I would like to be and would appreciate any opinions and/or information.
Because he didn't vote to authorize the invasion of Iraq. Because he has shown himself capable of making very fine distinctions. Because he answers questions instead of using them as an opportunity to launch into pre-thought-out speeches, showing an ability to think on his feet. Because he's not nearly as polarizing as the alternative.
On policy they're actually very close together. The biggest difference I can think of off hand is that Obama's health care plan creates a government-run insurance plan that people can buy into, and Clinton's health care plan creates a government-run insurance plan that people can buy into and makes it against the law to not have insurance.
Obama: he's a reasonable human being, even if I disagree with him.
For example, at a debate the three candidates were asked what their greatest flaw was. The question went first to Obama. He said something about how disorganized he is, and that he needs an assistant to keep him from losing papers on his desk.
Edwards said he was too passionate about helping the poor. Hillary, if I recall correctly, said that she was too passionate about helping people without healthcare.
Later, Obama said that if he hadn't gone first, he probably would have said that he is just too passionate about helping little old ladies cross streets. Out of the whole lot, he's the most decent, even if his middle name is Hussein (after Saddam, no less), and his church has black-supremicist leanings.
I am just glad its not warmonger hillary. I still love that gif of the antichrist...I wanted to see ron paul to win but I really felt the voting system is somehow fixed...
