Sick sick sick sick sick sick sick, thoughts on the flu vaccine

Nov 21, 2005 01:15

Cristopher and Holly and I are freaking sick again. My family has been getting sick literally every couple of weeks. I know that living with two small children and having a family business which puts you into contact with all sorts of different people every day really takes its toll, but this seems insane. I actually seriously thought about getting ( Read more... )

-All of the documented serious side effects of the flu vaccine and other vaccines (ie: autism, high content of mercury, formaldehyde, and other toxic substances, death, probable heightened risks of cancer and many other diseases, etc.)
-All of the not as of yet documented serious side effects. These haven't even been in use for very long and we really don't know what effect they are having on us in the long term.
-There are many cases of vaccines being infected with other diseases accidentally (or, occasionally, on purpose)
-Vaccines have been used to test the side effects of new drugs, vaccines, or even birth control methods without the patients' knowledge
-Your immune system will become much stronger by fighting viruses off on its own than by being given a shot
-The flu vaccine is not updated as regularly as it should be (as far as I can tell), and the strains that it immunizes you to are not necessarily the ones that will be prevalent that year.I hate flu vaccines and it pretty much sums it up about what I was about to say and yes ( ... )

It's good that you're not afraid to admit that you're paranoid. I always worry about that sort of thing.

I'm an incredibly paranoid person, I haven't had a flu shot in several years (since I got too big for my mom to drag me in there to get one!) and I refuse to get one. It used to be just because I was incredibly terrified of needles but in more recent years things that I have learned, pretty similar to what you said above, really made me not want tot ake the risk. I've had the flu before and gotten through it just fine. I'm young and healthy so I'm not too worried. Besides, I think modern society is killing their immune systems with all the anti-bacterial stuff and what not. Everyone is so terrified of getting sick, but you need to get sick so your body can build up resistance to this stuff.

Exactly. If you use all the anti-bacterial shit you can't build up resistances on your own to bacteria, AND you kill all of your good bacteria as well.

I expected a lot more people telling me I'm nuts here, so I've been pleasantly surprised.

I completely agree. People are so paranoid about germs, they don't think about the benefits of good bacteria and building up resistance and whatnot.

I'm sorry, lj has been mailing me my comments like a week late and I didn't know it!

Sounds good.

I think I have it in my cell phone. Do you still have my cell number in case I'm not home? We also do have an answering machine which (I think) works.
