Wow! Tonight I went to a bible study at a friends house -- she teaches family law and legal aid at your school, and said that the scool served as the headquarters for the whole fire-fighting operation. Crazy. At least everyone got out okay. Homes can be rebuilt and things can be replaced... can't replace people!
yeah, it's amazing that nobody got hurt, and although 4 mansions did get burned to the ground, the damage could have been SO much worse! I heard from the family I live with that Pepperdine generally is the headquarters when there is a fire going on... they even have their own fire department! :)
AND in the case of some other kind of disaster, Brittany told me that they are uber prepared: they have enough food on campus for everyone who goes to school there (the people who live on campus and the people who don't) for like two weeks or something crazy. Fun times.
But yea, it really is amazing that the damage wasn't worse and that everyone was safe.
they're kind of in a nice position being high up on a hill and having lots of space, so if there was something like a tsunami or mudslides blocking the few roads we have out of malibu, it'd be a good place to go!
that's what I thought too! I didn't take it though, I swiped it from a girl's facebook, and it looks like there is some fine print on the bottom left so I think it might be a professional picture that she swiped too. But that is how close it looked! crazy!
