Election season is upon us. Locally, we have the usual incomprehensible local elections, Jim Moran's (D) House seat, and George Allen's (R) Senate seat. Here are my current thoughts:

This is pretty useful. Personally, I probably wouldn't vote for him because of his views on marriage and the environment, but then, I don't know anything about the other canidates and its not my district :)

Vote smart is a pretty good resource though.

Thanks, Chris. That is a nice resource, at least for those who have filled out the questionnaire, which is far too little in Virginia.

I did, in fact, see some of the things I feared for Mr. O'Donoghue. Sigh. This pushes me further toward the independent candidate.

The canidates in my own district are, um, rather lax. NO ONE has filled out an questionnaire. Which sucks.

It seems like a great idea, but I fear that many politicians don't like having to take such stark positions without being able to spin their own opinions.

O'Donoghue was the only one for me. I may not agree with the man on a bunch of stuff, but at least he stepped up. I suspect this pattern is typical.
