There were rumors going around for a bit that Eastern's marching band was going to be discontinued. Roemer had resigned his position as marching band director and the whole program was to be turned into a pep band ( Read more... )

Awww. *applauds* I wasn't there.. I sent my mom. Due to current annoyances with the way the band is being run/was run during outdoor I felt uncomfortable going.

But my mom said pretty much the same thing you did. It sounds like it was good.

Also, one of the reasons why they might not have enough money for the band is because of the new astroturf fields (one soccer/field hockey/lacrosse field and one baseball field). At least, that's what I heard.. those new fields are expensive and useless to anyone who doesn't play sports.

Someone did bring up the fields; apparently they were purchased based on the projections from last year's budget and were already paid for by the time this year's was changed...or something...I didn't really understand that part, but it was something like that.

Ahahaha. My mom told me she had sat next to a Tara, but she had you confused with Tara Sano. XD

Yeah... the whole field thing is majorly confusing. I'm just pissed because I think it's unnecessary and the marching band isn't the only group that will suffer if the fields cause budget problems.

Yeah. Teachers and other staff may be fired over this, plus the loss of freshman sports and lots of clubs. It's really silly.

Yay! Glad to hear there's support for the band. Seriously, what is a high school without a marching band? @.@

Oh, and if you're registered to vote, the school election is coming up in April. I've already signed up for my absentee ballot. :D And if you're not registered, there's still time, I think. You can do it in person at the county store at the Echelon Mall.

Dude...I'm am so out of contact with the world. I didn't know any of this was happening until just recently. ;_; And, as for Roemer resiging his position...that's not a good thing. It's GREAT NEWS!
