a nightmare

"Beautiful creature," the woman breathes, smiling as her eyes glitter in the moonlight, "There is no one there."

But she can feel it, deep within her skin, distracting her even as slender fingers slide down the curve of her neck, down to her shoulder, caressing the skin, there.  She is certain that there is something there, just beyond her periphery
