It's pretty intense, I hear, but very cool. I met a kid a few weeks ago doing TFA on the south side of Chicago. His second day of class he got mace sprayed at his face.
Then this other girl I knew who did it in Baltimore hated it, and used to have to drink just to grade papers.
Haha, yeah. Part of reason I applied was because it's not for softies, like the AmeriCorps. No running around preparing tax returns for poor people or working at museums.
I've heard plenty of horror stories like that. Some kid I know on the Interwebs from Minnesota knew a girl that did TFA in Newark. She was sexually harassed by another teacher her third week in.
But really, it wouldn't be a good program if it didn't weed out the saplings.
