Tiny Bangs for your Buck

I played some Tiny Bang Story and Deus Ex over the weekend.

The most remarkable thing that happened in Deus Ex was that an NPC called me on it when I tried to use my social augment on her - neat, but I wonder if I'm getting towards being finished with the game. The ideas presented by the game are interesting, but I feel like I've gotten that experience, and I really don't care much about the plot or characters to invest another... however many hours this thing is supposed to be. Maybe I'll come back to it another time, or just forget about it.

Tiny Bang Story, however, is a joy to play. And short enough that it doesn't overstay it's welcome.

A few things came this week: My MultiClad Cuisinart 4 quart saucepan arrived, as did my Cook's Illustrated annuals for 2009 and 2010, as well as my Best of America's Test Kitchen 2007, 2008, and 2009. Oh, and a bonus for participating in the warehouse clearance sale: The Best Vegetable Recipes collection. This is mostly all coincidence; I ordered these things over the course of a few months.

We the Blockbuster on Sunday, as they're closing. I grabbed some cheap, older and obscurer titles that've been on my watch-list for a while for various reasons: Katamari Forever, Sherlock Holmes Vs. Jack the Ripper, Yakuza 3, and Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Cheap games - awesome.

It's a bit odd that the first time I've been to a video store in, maybe, three years is to raid it's game section when the chain is being closed down. Ah well.

So, afterwards, I spent an hour rolling snacks and stationary into a ball. Then I slow-cooked a ham for six hours, glazed it with maple syrup, cloves, cinnamon and cayenne pepper, and I ate it.

Tonight, hoppin' john!
