We're having an erection, err, election!

Well, the writ is dropped (and if you're looking at me quizzically right now, just go back to your long, drawn-out Presidential race, you American!) and an election is neigh. Er...I thought Thomas Steen was from Sweden or something? Is he a nationalized Canadian?

As for the GP: bwah-ha-ha, our fiendish plan is working! :-) Srsly, Dion is just taking a page from the Dems in whining about the Greens taking votes. I think the GP of C recognized the crowded field in their prefered constituency with the NDP around and decided to run further to the right than many Green parties do, which does line them up right against the Liberals. They probably are better than the Libs in terms of taxation, etc., as fiscal responsibility is a big plank for them.

Ya sure ya betcha, he vas bjørn in Svaiden! Because someone is not born in Canada doesn't preclude them from running (heck, four of our Prime Ministers, one of them in recent history, was born outside Canada!) According to Elections Canada, there are very few qualifications to run (unlike the baffling age, citizenship, and residency requirements for your presidential candidates, which seem to baffle even Americans themselves!) but one of them is that the candidate must be a Canadian citizen. So apparently Steen is a Canadian citizen.

And, for the record, as far as I know, Dion isn't whining about the GP taking votes away (in fact he's the only major party leader who is defending the Greens and saying they *should* be in the debate!)

Well, it seems now the Greens can participate in the leaders' debates, the Conservatives and NDP relented.

Were they "leaned" on by the Green Mafia? :)
