Title: Distance
Characters: Jack, Ianto
Rating: PG
Spoilers:  nope
Length: 284 words.
Summary:  .... lonely silly boys.

A/N:  I wrote 95% of this when I was asleep. No counting time, oddly enough.

Disclaimers:  Jack and Ianto belong to each other. No matter how far apart they are. Both belong to us.

Ianto looks at the sky, deep and dark; the shadows of the moon play symphonies across his face. The glistening in the sky matches the look in his eyes as he gazes upon worlds that he would never know. The full moon baths him in an ethereal glow as a lone tear falls down the curve of his cheek; just a small gleam against pale skin. He doesn’t know what he’s seeking, up there in the black sky, so cold and distant. But what he’s seeking is there.

Jack looks at the sky, black as pitch; the nearby suns cancelling out any moonlight that might have made an opus of his features. The shining stars surrounding him match the look in his eyes as he gazes upon worlds that he knows all too well. The cold darkness sheathes him as a lone tear falls down the curve of his cheek; just a shadow against shadowed skin. He knows exactly what he seeks up here in the black sky, so cold and alone. But what he’s seeking isn’t there.

Blue eyes meet across light years, both in search of each other across distances measured in ages rather than minutes. Things so elusive when the lovers were on the same planet now seem so trivial. It takes the distance of eons and universes to bring them together.

Blue eyes share a common sadness, a common need; reaching out, neither understanding what they search for across the span of the ether. Both feel as though a part of them is mislaid, something that has been there too long, and is now gone.

Realization hits as simultaneously both grasp what they are missing. And that is each other.
