I have a very soft spot for femano getting to keep the name 'romano'. Dunno why, but I do, so <3 for that. This was cute! I liked how easy their interactions felt. Familiar, you know? Not really awkward.

Yay! I'd forgotten that that is the second reason I've never gotten around to genderbends yet--I don't know what the hell to do with the names in not-AU. I mean, everybody else gets to keep the same country names, but North and South Italy are kind of clunky because no one really uses them, and I get the feeling while reading that there's an objection to "Romano" and "Veneziano" in fandom because of how they sound like names and we think the "no" is masculine but I personally dislike "Romana" and "Veneziana" and so I debated just chopping it off because "Roma" and "Venezia" would sound feminine and...
But I write fem!Romano and fem!Spain and watching you and Zike just use Romano sometimes no matter which version you're talking about, so I thought maybe I could pull it off AND ANYWAY I agonized over it a ridiculous amount so it makes me super happy to hear that it is a good thing rather than a weird thing! <3 <3 ( ... )
