If you like Redwall, you really ought to hunt down the original anthropomorphized animal series, and find Thornton Burgess "Old Mother West Wind" series. You can down-load some of his many, many stories for free Project Gutenberg. I also highly recommend Duncton Wood by William Horwood. Also, The Borrowers by Mary Norton. Heck, don't get me started! I have tons of great kid's books!

I had to pop in here, considering that kids lit is about all I read these days. I read the same books as Kidlet, so that we can discuss them together.

For the tried and true classics, there is always the Little House on the Prairie series, the Chronicles of Narnia, and the series of books starting with A Wrinkle in Time. For real oldies, Swiss Family Robinson and anything by Jules Verne is fun.

In the newer books, I liked the Underlander Chronicles by Suzanne Collins. It is a dark fantasy with surprisingly complicated themes for being a fifth grade level book. We just finished The Mysterious Benedict Society, which was another fun read. It is about a group of super genius orphans, solving nefarious crimes...there is a whole series of them.

I would also recommend Coraline and Neverwhere if you have not read them yet.
