Noir. That anime stands as a mile stone in my 4.5 years of earnest anime viewing. The reason being that in the early days, I had depended upon my IRC savvy friends to supply me with anime in bulk, watching titles they recommended. Through this I became acquainted with titles like Full Metal Panic, Matantei Lok Ragnarok, Chobits (though I knew the manga), and Full Metal Alchemist, and Gunslinger Girl, among others.
Noir came very highly recommended by one of just two friends whose opinions on anime I trusted, and to my great surprise, I was bored to death by it. I dislike the main characters and wished that they'd die, I found the music grating even though the music is one major bonus which fans of the show speak often of, I thought the animation quality below average and 16 episodes later I still haven't discovered a plot. The series received a D on my review list.
However I'll grant that the ending is one my favorite anime songs of all time. Oh, and those three blinking eyes? Mightily disturbing after looking at them for a while. ^
Well, *I* liked everything about Noir, so :P to all of you. Then again, I liked The Prisoner, too. I guess I like slowly developing plotlines where we're constantly left guessing about what's really going on.
