My wife works over at CIDA. There was much rejoicing (and not of the Monty Python kind). Question is, who is going to replace her? Speculation is also that she was advised that she would be shuffled and end up on the back bench, which means the only way to avoid a permanent demotion was to resign as Minister and MP before the change.

Unfortunately...as one of our friends e-mailed her..."Uh...congrats?" And then the first thing he does, without knowing anything about the portfolio, is state that he's going to bring financial accountability to CIDA? There's the death knell for whatever multilateral programming CIDA was still involved in.
