Writers - your rough drafts are due in a week's time (unless you have arranged for an extension) and I thought it was best if I did this post now, so the information is here for when it's needed ( Read more... )

And what happens if we are not sure we will be able to finish the draft in time, but we are completely, positively sure we will finish the fic, all 10K words, in time?

You don't need to have a finished draft, just hopefully the 60% of minimum word count - so that would fine. The draft submission is a writer saying 'yes I will finish this in time' :)

I couldn't be more specific in the first message, sorry - but now I'm sure where I stand so I can explain better.
I have 0 words so far, and it will continue for days. Hectic life. I doubt I will even start writing before January 20 :/
That's why I asked about the first draft - I won't have it.
Anyway, the story will be finished in time, because I have it completed in my head already, and I will have time to write it the last two weeks before submitting.
I know you can't work that way, that you have to have some sort of security, so I will listen to any advice you have. If you want me to opt out, that's fine, I understand. I will finish it nevertheless and send ti to my artist, so no damage done.
I would, however, be very glad if you keep me in game.

Or... as double security, you and the pinch hitter could work together to get it done. That way it's a guarantee. I know it's rude to read other people's comments and all but I just felt like giving suggestions. At least this way you could right down the outline of your story and at least have that ready so you can say you participated.

What if we are writing two stories? How do you want us to send them? Because we are supposed to have one finished and the other at the minimum. Are we supposed to label the finished one final draft or can it still be rough draft that way if we want to correct errors we still can.

Thanks bunches. Best Mod ever!

Each sent in a separate email (makes it easier to track via subject lines what's in and what isn't :))

It can still be a fairly rough draft (a complete story, just needing to be edited) - it's more a case of you not being able to have two that are still only half written. You can always stick notes about the progress of each one in the body of your email.

Thanks :)

Okay thanks! That was exactly what I needed to know. Now, off to finish story number one, which is actually the longer of the two.

Thanks bunches!
