Jay, did you see all the bullshit going on with the fans that missed the Candlestick show?? They have a FB page:

Seriously... I don't even live in California... have never been anywheres near Candlestick Park... and I KNOW that the traffic is abominable, and has been for many years. Football fans have known this for decades, and if I recall correctly, it was one reason listed for giving up on the stadium. The complex thingy they plan on putting there includes massive traffic improvements.

It's well known that you have to plan well ahead to get to any event being held there... and I would say this last show should have been an indication to plan even more carefully.

I dunno. If I paid all that money to see McCartney, I'd have been there ridiculously early. Just sayin'.

Wow, sounds like a lot of people had a horrible experience. A perfect storm, if you will. Were tickets truly oversold? Gosh, I wonder abut the people who actually go there to see the show. Just how early they were there and if they lived closer to the venue. I have to admit, if I paid tickets and missed the show due to traffic and other unforeseen problems I'd probably be complaining about it as well. LOL.

I haven't heard anything about it actually being oversold, so I don't know if it's another imaginary whine.

I can only guess that folks were unprepared. Amy and her roommate went, but didn't drive. They knew what a mess it would be and took a cab, and went EARLY. They were in town, and left at 330 in the afternoon. They'd made plans to ride home with a friend who drove in case the trains weren't running... and wouldn't you know it, the show started late and ran late. No train, but hey had a way home.

They're saying that Paul had trouble getting to the venue, too, but you know he gets there well before soundcheck even begins. I think it's more like they delayed the show an hour trying to give people a chance to get in.

I looked at google earth... I can see where it would be a complete nightmare to get in there, especially if you weren't familiar with the place. I dunno. I'm a complete freak about being early if I'm going somewhere unfamiliar. lol. Especially if I've paid hundreds of dollars for a ticket.

All around just a bad situation. Factor in poor planning, and a lot of people wind up being disappointed. It sucks that people didn't get to see him. What a thing to talk about. I saw Paul at Candlestick Park, pretty darn historic.

The story you related to me about planning ahead possibly could've prevented many other people from being disappointed.

I wouldn't have known about any of this if you hadn't told me.
