Ew, yuck! I thought some other actor was slated to play Brian, no? Crap.

IMO, unless the director and producers grow huge sets of Yoko-proof balls, I doubt they'll touch the Brian/John rumors in any meaningful or direct way.

a few weeks ago i posted about an actor slated to play brian but i think that might've been for a play? that guy actually looked very similar to brian.

it's a shame that even now they wouldn't even subtly hint at the john and brian thing.

That's right! And, IIRC, that guy was a very accomplished actor. Yes, he resembled Brian well. Sherlock Homes as Brian is just disappointing, but predictable I suppose. Now we'll have to endure (or in my case, ignore) the shitty, pseudo-intellectual meta-heavy Holmes/Beatles crossover fics. Ugh.

They might hint - just to get the BBC Sherlock slash fans' knickers happy. ;)

if this happens i'll be curious to see what he looks like all done up to resemble brian. i wonder if it'll be a case of aaron johnson ala nowhere boy.

Well I'm a fan of his and I think he's a good actor, so I'm not disappointed on that score.

I do find it interesting how often competing movies go into production on the same themes. There was just a bio of Hitchcock on HBO, and soon there's a movie coming out about him too. Lots of other examples, but it's a weird phenomenon.

I'm surprised you all think they won't touch the Brian/John rumors. Why wouldn't they? John himself commented on it in that Playboy interview (which you can read here: http://www.beatlesinterviews.org/dbjypb.int4.html) so it seems fair game.

Can't wait to see who they'll get to play the Beatles, though. Wish they could get Dhani to play his dad, since he's the spitting image of him, but I know that's a pipe dream.

i can't speak for anyone else but the reason why i don't think they'll touch on it is simply based on the fact that it's a mainstream production and they might not want to go 'there'.

Without a doubt I respect your own assessment of BC, though I don't agree. It is interesting how these phenomena come in more predictable waves these days, isn't it?

It would be amazing if Dhani was involved. I adore that gorgeous man! I wonder if he can act.

I think it's the idea that Yoko is in charge of John's estate, and that she would be able to protest if a film represented John in a way she didn't approve of. At least, that's MY feeling. Despite that, I'd love John/Brian stuff.

THAT guy is gonna take on the Brian role? Are they going to put him in full mask??

Shit, Yoko looks more like Brian. She probably needs something to do.

yup, he's been casted as brian it seems. lets not abandon all hope though. i'm going to be optimistic and believe that with the right make up, hair and wardrobe he might somewhat look like brian. i just can't see it in that comparison picture of the two of them. it'll be a great role for cumberbatch though.

Yeah. It's tough. I was barely able to suspend my belief with the characters in Nowhere Boy... but I DID...lol.

I can't speak for Cumberbatch's acting ability, as I can't stand that show (I TRIED!)...

Things like this remind me of that Elvis movie Kurt Russel starred in. Great actor... but looked as much like Elvis as Peter Lorre would have. It just didn't work.

I am curious who they will select to represent the Beatles. I doubt any Brian/John will be touched upon. Maybe a bit of Brian's longing, but not much more.

EXACTLY. I expect homophobia "not our Beatles" to shine through on some level. One-sided interest on Brian's part will play into that nicely.

I'm a huge fan of Cumberbatch and like I said elsewhere, I'm stoked for this. The man has some serious talent and if anyone can play this role with the right amount of poise, humanity, and respect, then it's him. (Of course, this also depends on the script, but we'll see about that bit.)

I actually do see some resemblance. Makeup, hair, and the right surroundings do marvels for believability.

At least Cumberbatch is British, though. So at least he'll be able to get Brian's accent and diction right.

Cumberbatch will be brilliant, he always is <3

I´m more worried about who will play the Beatles. I can´t stand another horrible impersonation of Paul or George.
