That's an interesting interview, which reminds me of one she gave to the German magazine Brigitte two years ago, especially the parts about her mother and Kyoko, the ambivalence about being a mother, being pregnant.
This, though, is new to me and fascinating:I asked for the seven sufferings and my life became terribly difficult. All sorts of misery. And when it got to around 1979 I thought, ‘what did I do wrong?’ So I said I’m going to change it. Give me seven lots of luck and eight treasures. My disaster became my treasure. I reversed it.”
Now maybe the transcription is wrong, but this reads to me as saying her life became difficult and full of misery until 1979. Which would cover all the househusband years (and of course the years before that, from 1972 when the honeymoon phase was over) except for the last one, when both she and John started getting creative again.
i two had also never heard that though. i see it as she had an incredible life with john and from being with him she was able to experience things she might not have though. in exchange for that life it was filled with plenty of hardships.
A very good article! I think Yoko is being really honest in it, and you get a good picture of the kind of person she was/is, with her little quirks and oddities, but also with her genuine goodness, in spite of everything that was written about her. She strikes me as very brave too, in this. Serene, in a way. Very inspiring!
Thanks for posting this. Yoko Ono is a very strange person--and a very interesting person. I can never quite decide what to make of her, but I always want to know more.

That's the way I read it, too, especially since she says that her karma didn't effect John (i.e., prevent his death). It's a very strange quote.
