[Unfortunately Mag was lagging a bit behind, running into a little trouble along the way, but with the help of Aeracomet and a bit of rubble, he'd fought his way out. Knowing Linear could be in danger, and leaving with a stranger, he ran the rest of the way. He was a little angry that Linear was there, unsure of if she was there as long as he was and he'd left her in danger, or if she had just arrived.]

[The flash of light drew Mag's attention from the corner of his eye. To the left... He ran in that direction, eager to see Linear, and who the man who came to her aid was. He was never too careful when it came to trusting others with the girl. That's when he saw her, in the dim lantern light, and he tripped on his way over.]
L-Linear! Aaah...
[Clumsy... He picked himself up off the ground and scratches the back of his head, red faced and embarrassed as he looked from face to face.]
[Mostly to himself] ...A new arrival?

Over here! She's fine!
He raised the lantern a bit in hopes that whoever it was would see its light.]

[Almost reaching for the boy, he looked on with concern as he picked himself up.]
A friend of yours, Miss?

[Linear walked over to Mag to pat him on the head where he was on the ground, just as she always did.]

Yeah, I'm Mag. Thanks for coming out to help Linear. What's your name?
[He took Linear's hand and stood close by her side, wary of the dangers of being out at this time.]

It was no problem at all. And, ah, I would be Professor Hershel Layton, a pleasure to meet you both.
[The matter of introductions now done, he swung the lantern in the direction of the more civilized part of town.]
Now then, the matter of getting back to safety. Did you want to go somewhere else, or is the high school a suitable destination?

She wasn't quite sure where else there was to stay, so Linear looked to Mag to answer Layton's question.]

[He looked to the quiet blonde, smiled cheerfully and squeezed her hand.]
The high school is where I've been staying until I can find someplace else to go. I guess I'll have to explain everything to Linear once we get there.
