Eiko pops in a bit later, sitting down to watch. Isis is in a mood, and she'd prefer that her love calm a bit before discussing. Besides, this gives her a chance to see two things about Isis she rarely sees: Isis in staff practice (and, well, in motion, which she enjoys), and Isis angry (much, much rarer).
For herself, she watches, absently tinkering with something as she does. She doesn't interrupt. Yes, Isis can multitask? But sometimes being angry and dealing with it is best done inside ones own head.
It's not just anger, it's sheer disgust. Fear, too. She's training hard, sand whipping about as she moves, seemlessly.
It's more obvious now why Isis's defense is poor. She tends to put more power in her swings, and she uses a lot of feints. She's aware of Eiko's presence, and takes a bit of care to keep a distance from her (because accidently clobbering her would be HORRIBLE).
It's not senselss rage. Isis is a very hard person to anger. Even harder is it to anger her to the point she has to leave, and send the anger into something else. The swings are hard, both hands, occasionally one. Isis even goes as far as to spin the staff to add power to her strikes.
Eiko tried to be mostly outside the available thumping area by dint of using trees so Isis didn't have to try to avoid too hard. Always best, really. Because if she got whacked in the head and brain damaged, she couldn't really wear her "all this and a 300 IQ" t-shirt anymore! And that would be sad.
She notes Isis's technique, and some of the flaws in it, and makes a couple of notes in her PDA. Her entire combat style is self-taught - she jokingly calls it 'Engineer Fu, the art of throwing increasingly complex crap at things until they fall down or stop moving' - but she's also got ten years of small-unit combat experience, and that gives you an eye for such things.
And so she waits for Isis to come down a bit. There's two bottles of water with her, too.
It would be sad! Very sad for all. It's not at all hard with the combined efforts of the two of them at the moment, she's just moreso making sure of Eiko's location in reference to herself more than anything else.
Isis's training, as stated before, is more formal. All mages were taught the basics of self defense, and those that went for the competitions were taught more. Given that Isis did go for the competitions, way back when (which in reality isn't all that long ago). Several more faints, quick succession. Another backflip, followed by an impressive redirection of momentum into a heavy downward swing into the sand.
It won't take her too much longer to work to a more calm level. Her calm with Deb was much more forced than it might'ave appeared to most everyone else.
