Sharp rock penetrates the barely-healed wound in his back. Disjointed memories flit across his slipping consciousness, but only one stands out.
Katara.
He suddenly wishes he hadn't floated off on a giant lion turtle in the middle of the night. He wishes he had said a better goodbye.
Because in the end, it's not his principles that prevent him from doing what's necessary. No; it's not that Aang won't kill Ozai.
It's that he can't.
He should be thankful, he supposes. Because Aang won't live long enough to become the villain.
