This is a nice vignette. Swift isn't a character I come across that often in the relatively few number of Authority fanfics, so it was a welcome change. The first few sentences threw me because I assumed it was Apollo's point of view, but then I reread it with the knowledge that it was Swift observing, it made perfect sense. Finally, I like the idea that on their "downtime" they explore their powers and how it connects them to the rest of the world and reflect on their actions. Thank you.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Yeah, I might have another quick read through for tense shifts, I have a habit of automatically shifting to present tense without thinking about it. I just dashed this one off to get my head primed for writing, so I could have spent a bit more time on the edit.

Swift intrigues me, particularly because her belief systems clash a bit with the Authority's traditional methods of solving a problem; I think the best example of her at her best is probably when she dealt with Jacob Kriegstein. Her solution was so elegant and actually demonstrated some effort to change the world in a positive way without resorting to violence. I've got another fic I'm working on with Apollo & Shen, so we'll see how that one turns out.

I like some of the imagery language you use here, especially the first paragraph and then Apollo's halo crystallizing.

Azarias; Warm air creates updrafts, doesn't it? Would Apollo be changing the air currents just by being there, radiating heat? Must be interesting to fly with him -- his presence might make it easier for Shen to soar. I like the way Shen's comparing her own "divinity" to Apollo's, and how she seems not quite to know what to make of him. I doubt he understands her any better, though they're both learning.

Good points. I hadn't thought about the warm air created by Apollo and how it would effect Shen's flight. I might work with that next time I pick these two up to play with.
