That is huge. I would think that you would have been informed of aomeone with such major physical limitations. FOr playwriting there may be an option for you. If you can get your hands on Playmaking (that is the title of the book). It is a playwriting program that can work for children as young as third grade. I used it with a class that I only have for 7 weeks. It could work for you. Thankfully, it is also broken into lesson plans for you. A lot of hte work is done for you, you may just have to adjust a bit. There are physical activities, but the one student can very much be a part of the class. I have just recently begun looking for more literature for students who are physically challenged, I know there is some stuff out there, but you seem to have little time. I do feel for you in regards to how the aid responded. That was unfair. You would think she may have tried to assist you with some options.

Wow... this is a challenge.

I'll keep thinking about it... but maybe you should talk to the full-time aide. If s/he knows him pretty well, she might be able to suggest activities.

I am coming into this very, very late, but I am curious what you did find to do.

I was much luckier with that class than I had initially expected; his classmates came in asking to play the games they'd heard about from kids who had previously been in my classes (games that involved a lot of movement) but they were great about making sure he could be involved. He also wound up leaving about ten minutes early every day to get to his next class on time, so if I really wanted to do something with a lot of movement, I saved it for those last ten minutes ( ... )
