Kitsune planning

Apr 29, 2009 12:50

When you guys think of a kitsune, what are the identifying aspects? I know there are a lot of tails involved, but I really want to focus on the face (as I will be sculpting a kitsune mask for general sale, and I want it to read as "kitsune" rather than generic fox).

Ideas, thoughts, and musings are all welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

I would be intrigued to see you do a yarn tail for the kitsune! ;) I think most distinguishing features on kitsunes beside the multi-tails is that they might have some sort of magic charm type attire or accessories

Not to get too metaphysical here, but in a sense I never really got the impression that kitsune had faces of their own, rather they took on the appearance of other humans as a convenience for their own ends and amusement?

Maybe a highly generic face.. or a some how occluded one with the suggestion of fox features.

I'm making it sound like a René Magritte painting, aren't I?

If part of an entire costume (body, arms, legs, tails etc.), not certain other than what folks have already said.

If I had one that was just a mask to be worn as the stand-alone costume piece (save garb), I would use kabuki as an inspiration. Strong, bold lines with porcelain white, bold red, and pure black with strong lines. But that is more my style, probably not what is being sought after.
