Um, can I say something that might be considered fannish blasphemy? *whispers* I think Daniel Radcliffe is sort of a crap actor.

Don't tell anybody, or they'll take away my geek creds. Or the crazy fangirlsladies will come and get me! *shudders ( Read more... )

That Gor thing blew my mind. Just yuck. A million times yuck (Although Frank Miller is probably jumping up and down in glee.)

I have to do that WIP meme also. The "Rise" one has me giggling insanely. I would have paid to see that on the show.

Finally, I don't need the link, I need the actual syndicated feed button so I can friend it. Nyxie has one on her last LJ post.

I've been seeing a lot of anger directed against Miller lately. And while I understand it, I can't help but thing -- he's sure not alone in being a misogynist making his way in the comics world!

Or so I hear, anyway. I'm not much of a reader myself. But this Gor thing, wowza, man. I read the whole article with my mouth hanging open... and not in a good way. ;)

Hey! I did the RSS thing! Stolen directly from thenyxie:

yeah! for the link.

There's a lot of "women in refigerators" in comics, but Miller is one of the worst because every single woman is the same. Here's something I've linked to a lot which is the perfect explanation: (very short)

Frank Miller

Plus he turned Batman into a sicko who gets his kicks by torturing Robin and seems to be a half step removed from being a pedophile. Unforgivable.

Ah, see, that's what I count on my friends for -- information that I wouldn't have otherwise. I gotta say, that's one of the best things I've gotten out of fandom.

My only experience with Miller is Sin City and 300 (the movie, I've never seen the novel), and though they were icky, I thought that was just a grim/gritty style thing. I also thought 300 the movie was cinematically beautiful, and I adore Gerry Butler, so I'm ambivalent about the violence and celebration of brutality it represents.

I had no idea that the horrid treatment of women was a pattern in his work! And I didn't know about Batman either! Thank you for enlightening me. *hugs*

You have to remember though that Daniel is (was) a kid (esp. in POA). For a kid - he's not that bad. He's miles a head in OTP then he was in GOF or POA.

Equus is a fairly challenging part Daniel has spoken very highly of the experience and what he learned doing it.

He's also did another film out here that is going to be coming out.

He's got a lot of potential and is really working on learning his stuff, I think he's gonna be really good. I'm really looking forward to seeing his new film, see what he can do outside of the franchise.

(Plus you gotta love a guy who kept getting mistaken for Elijah Wood)

It's true, I know, that my experience with Mr. Radcliffe is really limited. I was watching PoA (as you noticed) when I wrote this, and there were a few line deliveries in that movie that made me wince for the poor guy. The "crying" at the Shrieking Shack comes to mind. I do need to remember that he's just a kid -- or at least, he was then.

I would love to see his work in Equus, but... alas, wrong country. ;) I'll be very interested to see where his career goes. I do feel sorry for the kid. He's going to have to work twice as hard to make a career outside of HP than most young actors would. And while he's got instant recognizability and buckets of money from HP, that can also be a hindrance. I wish him the best of luck.

Thank you for not pulling my geek creds. *G* *smooch*

I don't agree with the term Grey Rape. Very Misleading but I kind of agree with their reasoning. Esp that girls who have been raped may blame themselves for putting themselves in that situation. Don't know if that's necessarily due to 'wanting to feel empowered' To be honest its the kind of reaction I could see myself having.

While I know that any rape is wrong, if I put myself in an 'at risk' situation, I would probably put some responsibility on myself. While rape is always wrong. We do live in a world where it is a risk and being off your face - increases your risk. (even if just messing up your normal reactions to things)

The thing about Gray Rape that I have a problem with is the very idea that there can BE a gray area when it comes to rape at all. As far as I'm concerned, if there's no consent for whatever reason, it's rape. Period ( ... )

Okeedokee! But keep in mind that you need to comment at the post itself. I'll still be crossposting, so you can comment here. Didn't you open an IJ?

I did, (it seems to have vanished bizarrely and I've had to start again) I'm going to leave that in to use it for commenting, I just can't be bothered starting all over again, and there don't seem to be any clients for multiple posting for Macs. Which would make doing that awfully hard work.

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that. I would never be able to cross post if it weren't for Semagic. I don't blame you at all for not wanting to move entirely. I don't want to lose track of you, though, so I'm glad you can comment! *hugs*
