That Cat -- I'm going to be eating Kitty Stew soon, I know it...

Babar chewed through yet ANOTHER pair of ipod earbuds (that turd!). So yesterday I had to ride the bus without being transported to my own little world of music---I had to actually see all the sad people riding to their respective hells. It was a little depressing. Depressing enough that I bought a pair of Philips earbuds from CVS for $10, when ( Read more... )

At this rate, I'm going to be spending $300/year on earbuds for my ipod! Cats, sheesh.

How old is he? I was kind of hoping my cat would grow out of the "chew through everything" stage but I bet that's wishful thinking :P

Earbuds seem to be the WORST though. I've gone through like 5 pair in a year and the last three have all been because I leave them sitting out (There's like two places in my entire apartement too high for him to get to somehow) for MAYBE a minute where I'm not watching them or him and BAM! He's found them and chewed them in half.

My kitty just turned 2 years old (same w/his non-earphone-chewing brother, who just has a taste for plastic bags, socks and string). The weird thing is, he was NEVER a "chewer" until I got that ipod. All of a sudden, he chews ANY headphone wires. I used to be able to leave my big ol' Sony headphones out anywhere, but after the ipod earbuds, Babar decided ALL skinny wires must be tasty. Hopefully, your cat is just going through a phase as a youngun', but I wouldn't risk it.

"...sitting out ... for MAYBE a minute ... and BAM! He's found them and chewed them in half."
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT MY BABAR DOES (heh, caplock crazy, sorry)! Babar adds a little extra though, in that I can be sitting right in front of them and he pretends to be sleeping, when really, he's chewing my wires.

Oh man, that is tricky! Yeah, I just forgot once to put the earphones where Gypsy can't reach them, went to the bathroom, came back and he FLED like "I know I just did something bad but it feels so goooood!"

Babar broke into my computer room (the door was shut) while I slept, and rummaged around my desk until he found the ipod hiding between my keyboard and monitor. CHEWED!

Naughty kitties. They're lucky they're so cute.

Oh man, you HAVE to get two! Definitely. Not only are two kittehs double the fun, but when you're not at home (s)he has a buddy to play with and to keep from getting depressed.

On the joys of owning a cat, I must say: I am lucky that my kitties don't shred stuff (furniture, walls, legs, etc) with their claws. All I have to do is make sure any and all earphones (and socks---when it comes to the other cat) are safely locked away when not in use.
