Elle is twenty-four and wiser when she meets Angela Petrelli for the second time.
She just barely remembers the woman, but she does remember her, and maybe that’s all that really matters. She smirks slightly as she moves forward to take the older woman’s hand, and notices the lines that crease her face - and suddenly she realizes that Mrs. Petrelli looks exactly the way she did fourteen years ago, if a little older.
“Elle,” Angela Petrelli says, and Elle suddenly feels like all the attention is on her again. Not that she minds, of course. “You probably don’t remember me-”
“I remember you.”
Angela smiles at Elle - a tight-lipped smile, but it’s a smile all the same.
Elle feels her fingertips itching to spark as they did those years ago, but by now she has much better control over her abilities, so she reins herself in before the sparks actually materialize.
“It’s certainly good to see you again, so grown up,” Angela says primly, holding her hand out.
“While you haven’t aged one bit,” Elle quips in response, her tone matter-of-fact, taking Angela’s hand in a firm handshake.
The comment seems to throw Angela off.
But before Angela can think, Elle, with her hand still attached to Angela’s in a handshake, suddenly pulls her in close and presses a kiss to her lips.
It’s quick and soft and gentle, and Elle never thought she could be any of those with anyone.
When Elle pulls back to look at Angela, she can’t quite read the expression on her face, but she decides it’s not a bad expression.
“I’m glad you remember me too.”
That’s what Elle says before she turns on her heel and leaves, because she doesn’t know what else to do. She feels Angela’s gaze follow her as she strides down the hallway, and then-
“I didn’t think you’d remember me.”
Elle smiles as she hears the voice carry down the hallway.
And then she turns the corner, and that’s that.
Elle is twenty-four when she meets Angela Petrelli for the second time, but she will never forget her.
