Elle Bishop had to be on her very best behaviour on this day, because “the very important Mrs. Petrelli is scheduled to visit, and Daddy cannot afford to have another screw-up” - that was what her Daddy said. And as young as she was, Elle knew this last bit was directed at her, and scrunched her nose in response, recalling the incident her Daddy was referring to. She still did not think that she was at fault.
After all, the visitor her Daddy was referring to had challenged her. He had questioned her capabilities. And when her Daddy said to give the man’s palm her best shot - well, that was exactly what Elle had done, and then she had gotten grounded because she had managed to electrocute the man so badly that he started to burn on the surface.
But it wasn’t like he died or anything; he could heal himself. So Elle didn’t see what the big deal was, and resented her grounding very much. She had only been following orders, and was she supposed to be punished for that?
That was the screw-up her Daddy is referring to, and Elle was determined not to screw up this time around.

When Elle Bishop met Angela Petrelli, she was surprised.
Mrs. Petrelli was a lot younger than she thought she would be - and a lot more elegant as well.
Mrs. Petrelli also made a point to talk to Elle, and Elle liked all the attention. She also liked the way Mrs. Petrelli talked to her - she looked her in the eye and talked to her like she was an adult, like she mattered.
Elle decided right then that she liked Mrs. Petrelli.
She spent the rest of the visit following Mrs. Petrelli around the house, her fingertips sparking every time the older woman turned slightly to regard her.
Her Daddy noticed this, and sent her up to the room immediately.
Silly Daddy, couldn’t he see that Elle didn’t want to hurt Mrs. Petrelli? She just wanted to protect her.
Elle tromped up to her room anyway, smiling like a maniac.
Elle Bishop was only seven when she met Angela Petrelli for the first time, but she will remember her until the day she dies.
