Drabble Challenge:
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn your music player on and turn it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble/ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it’s over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.
So my writing muse has been dead for a very, very long time - and I stumbled upon this and decided to try it out. A fair warning to you guys, though: It's awful. Emily and Andrea are out of character, even though I did try to keep them somewhat like themselves. But this is me trying to get back on the writing horse, so... just enjoy it for how bad it is.
Ten Drabbles
Fandom: Devil Wears Prada
Pairing: Emily/Andrea.

Nara - ES Posthumus
(instrumental)
The night starts off with drinks at the local bar.
It’s ladies night, and Emily plans to get smashed.
Somehow she’s still sober when the night ends with her in Andrea’s bed instead, somewhere in downtown New York.
Her hands are all over the place, touching, groping, reaching.
Soft skin, muffled groans.
Ouch! - not there. But more, more, more.
It’s never enough, of course.

Eat You Up - BoA
When I first saw you I knew nothing's like it used to be
Boy, you have got to be the finest thing in history
The way I feel inside is just so hard to understand
You feed my appetite in ways I can't explain
I'll eat you up
(Your love, your love)
Emily hates the way Andrea makes her feel.

London Rain (Nothing Heals Me Like You Do) - Heather Nova
I'm coming home to you
I'm alive I'm a mess
I can't wait to get home to you
To get warm and undressed
“I am completely, utterly exhausted.”
Andrea turns at the familiar voice, smile tugging at her lips. “Hi to you too, Emily.”
“Hey,” comes the response, muffled by the couch pillows.
“You’re not going to fall asleep on me, are you?”
“Never.”
But two minutes later, and Emily is fast asleep.
Andrea places a light kiss on her forehead, and curls up next to her.
It’s not comfortable, but it’s exactly where she wants to be.

Charmed Life - Leigh Nash
It's a charmed life
Unexplainable grace
Stumbling, you fall right into place
It's a childlike world and you can feel the magic
Far from the typically tragic
That's the beauty of a charmed life
“I will have you know that I am not touching that… that… monstrosity.”
“It’s a Chihuahua, Em. Not Godzilla.”
“It’s disgusting. Why can’t you walk it yourself?”
Andrea pouts.
“You know that’s not going to work. Now off with you - go walk that heinous-”
She’s silenced by Andrea’s lips on hers.
After what seems like ages, they break apart.
“So, are you going to come or what?”
A sigh from Emily. “Just give me a minute. If I’m going to be walking with something that looks like that, I have to look somewhat presentable.”

Hotel Paper - Michelle Branch
I write mostly on Hotel Paper
Knowing that my thoughts will never leave this room
I'd be out of line telling you, "Leave her"
So I lie lonely surrounded by you
This time, they’re in Milan.
It’s sixteen-hour-days and rushrushrush, and there’s barely time for sleep, much less… anything else.
In the hour between two and three in the morning, Emily and Andrea find themselves in the same place for the first time the entire trip.
They’re lying on the king-sized bed in the hotel room that someone at Runway had booked, and Emily’s so tired she can’t muster the energy to complain about having to share.
Andrea turns to face her to say something, but the meaning of the words are lost on Emily.
She stares at her, or maybe her lips, and she does something unthinkable.
She kisses Andrea.

The Chain - Ingrid Michaelson
The sky looks pissed.
The wind talks back.
The bones are shifting in my skin and you my love are gone.
My room seems wrong.
The bed won't fit.
I cannot seem to operate and you my love are gone
So glide away and so be healed
and promise not to promise anymore
and if you come around again
then I will take, then I will take
the chain from off the door
Emily’s never been faithful.
Never been monogamous, not really.
She dates Serena and Andrea at the same time.
Serena doesn’t care.
Andrea does.
And when Andrea leaves, Emily’s surprised to realize that she wants her to come back.

Close Call - Rilo Kiley
She was born on a brightened pier
To a gypsy mother and a bucket of tears
Her good looks could've sailed a ship
But her will alone could've sunk it
Working at a magazine like Runway has its ups and downs.
The ups? Fashionable clothing, parties, famous people… (Well, for most people, anyway. Not for Andrea, though. She just wants to work for a literary magazine.)
The downs? The neverending hours - the job that goes on and on.
So she doesn’t expect the job to be tolerable.
But with Emily, it is.

Mouthwash - Kate Nash
And I use mouthwash
Sometimes I floss
I got a family
And I drink cups of tea
“I don’t like cinnamon, Emily.”
Exasperated.
“What do you mean, you ‘don’t like cinnamon’? Everyone likes cinnamon.”
Incredulous, with a hint of condescending.
“Well, I don’t, and I’m not using your ‘special cinnamon toothpaste,’ okay?”
Tired of arguing about this.
“Suit yourself. It’s your loss.”
Smirk.
“All right, hand it over.”
Giving in.
“I knew you couldn’t resist.”
Self-satisfied.

Supermassive Black Hole - Muse
Oh baby, don't you know I suffer?
Oh baby, can't you hear me moan?
You caught me under false pretenses,
How long before you let me go?
Ooh, you set my soul alight
Andrea’s never been very good at saying no, especially where Emily is concerned. Maybe that’s how she ends up pushed up against the wall, with Emily leaning over her, pressing into her, pink lips dangerously close to her own.
“Say it.”
“Only if you say it first.”
A pause.
“You’re mine.”
“I love you too.”
She closes the few inches between them, seals it with a kiss.

The Frug - Rilo Kiley
And I can hate your girl
I can tell you that she's real pretty
I can take my clothes off
I cannot fall in love
Emily doesn’t like Andrea when she first meets her.
She doesn’t like her the second, third, or even fourth time she sees her.
But two months later and she’s standing in front of Andrea.
“What are you doing tonight?”

I'll be trying this with other fandoms/pairings, so we'll see how that goes.
