Rain, Potluck, and Sex in Public

I just returned from the potluck. My feet are soaked - one of those last downpour rainstorms of the year - I’m thankful that I have the habit of carrying my rainsuit in my “tools and fools” pannier, otherwise I would be completely drenched.

Crossing the stop & shop parking lot was beautiful. Bright streetlights glimmering in the big puddles, waves ( Read more... )

I know about this much: |-| about forming businesses. Have you looked into forming an LLC?

Sort of. It's on the list for me to investigate at the library next Monday.

Working at a law firm specializing in business law, I have to tell you that it is really worth it to hire an attorney to help you decide what the best legal entity is. I've seen waaay too many small businesses have partners who get screwed in the end because no one knew what they were doing when they formed their entity. The best attorney for you would be one who is a CPA *and* an attorney, or an attorney who has a good working relationship with a CPA who will be able to advise you on the best formation.

I know I sound all lawyer-y...but, yeah. It's worth it. Also, it's generally not excruiatingly expensive. I don't know how Mass attorneys fees differ from Texas, but here an entity formation costs anywhere from $800 - $3,000 - including filing fees of $300 - $600, depending on which formation you need.

M'kay. Good suggestions, as I know zilch about this process.

Is there any attorney/CPA chummy-organization that you would recommend for finding an attorney through?

I know you can always call your State Bar Association and they will have a lawyer referral program. That is probably your best bet, as they will give you a reputable attorney.

I just wanted to drop you a note to say that book is freaking amazing. I now want to make everything in it, all at once!!! (I might need to contain myself slightly... eh, we'll see.) At the very least, mead and kimchi are going to happen in the very very near future. I'm excited. You rock. (But you knew that already. :)

Yeah, when I found the book, I was like..whoah! Awesome! Make it all!

I'm sending you my Kimchi recipe - it's big so you'll probably want to scale it down by 1/10 - it made 5 gallons and I'm guessing one half gallon might be more like what you're looking for.

I'm starting hard cider this weekend, and plan to soon start non alcoholic ginger beer, strawberry, raspberry and blueberry flavoured meads (individually, not together) and then tempeh and miso and real wine and real beer and...ohmy. It goes on.
