Josh E came down from Vermont today, and we planted garlic together. It was good. I planted 5 beds - 1 more than last year. It had better size up better this year. Most of the bulbs were 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches in diameter when I sized them - rather than the 2 to 2 1/2 that they should have been. ::shrugs

In one of my classes today we talked about how separating the genders in the Victorian era created homosexuality and how making the genders less of polar opposites in the 1920-1940 area created heterosexuality.

I think there's very few exclusively male-bodied spaces in our society, and that women create exclusively female-bodied spaces because in mixed gender spaces men frequently have more power. I don't think creating exclusive spaces is a solution to oppressive power dynamics, but it is a respite. I don't know for sure, but I have a feeling the same power dynamics are at play in mixed gender groups and in male-bodied only groups. I wish there were more places for men to go to experience that change in power dynamics.
