I just finished placing my food collective order. Yum.

I'm ordering frozen strawberries and blueberries (which is stupid because I should have frozen enough of the ones I picked) - but I'm ordering them so I can make berry flavoured mead. Double yum.

6 lbs of tempeh, a gallon of maple syrup, 5-9 lbs of tahini and a dozen cans of coconut milk also ( Read more... )

Hey Mike, Mrs. Juggler here. First off, hello! Nice to see you on this here contraption! Secondly, since you referenced berries for mead, do you have a book or recipe you'd recommend? Ted and I are toying with making some at some point, but haven't begun to read up on it yet. Just wondering...

Hope you're well, we're pretty dandy!

Hugs,
Sarah

Really, Sarah, you needn't identify yourself through Ted. I know who you are!

Funny, 'cause I recall finding your LJ through your website sometime in the past year and thinking "I oughta friend her" but clearly I never did.

Yes, I DO have a book I'd recomend: "Wild Fermentation" by Sandor Katz

I haven't yet made any mead yet, but I plan on making mead, soft drink ginger beer, and hard apple cider all this fall. And longer term, trying wine and beer.

Damn drinking age! I shall flaunt you!

What type of beverage are you and Ted thinking about making? Mead? Other?

It seems you probably read some of my older journal entries if you found that mead entry - you oughta look again 'cause I do make quite a few friends only posts.

I'm doing fairly well. My livejournal is a fairly accurate portrayal of my life, aside from the fact that most girl-related drama I self-censor.

Warmly,

Mike

PS I haven't read your journal in months so now I'm sitting down to catch up. Plus, it's 6:46am and I'm in Victoria, BC, and I was supposed to leave 2.5 hours ago but my alarm didn't go off so now I've re-constructed a way to get home but am wide awake and have to walk to a bus stop in half an hour anyway. Sigh.

That sucks that you missed your bus (bus? or train?), but it sounds like you're taking it in stride.

Reading old journal entries is good. It's weird to me that I now use filters on friends-only posts sometimes - but there are people on my friends list who are only acquaintances, and sometimes I only want to write something to close friends and...etcetera.
