She took the purple-veined stone in her palm and placed her hand in his. Between them, it grew warm, like it would have been under Cassiel's-or Gallifrey's-two suns.
And this was like poetry. I loved every line.

I love the Doctor and Rose's relationship in this, I really do. She does, of course, trust him to do the right thing. And Donna! So much love for Donna.
*sigh* What a lovely fic and a fantastic journey you've taken us on! I think I speak for all of fandom when I say: Next, please!

I feel like that if people didn't know that I'm a total cornball before this chapter/epilogue, they know now. Everyone is awesome! Feel their awesome! \o/ Ah well. If that's wrong, I don't want to be right.

Bonus points to you for a realistic portrayal of the Doctor's medical treatment. :)
Also - I don't see this as inconsistent with canon, now that I think about it. What we learned about the Time War in EoT doesn't rule out this alternate not-Gallifrey happening the way you spelled out here. Not that it matters - canon is as canon does! - but it's fun to contemplate.

Donna felt frozen to the spot, feeling quite criminally useless. There wasn't anyone to yell at or point fingers toward, no alien to cut off at the pass or corridor to run down.
This is such a great idea - criminally useless - and all the things she now considers useful.
I'm very glad you came back to this story.
