That's a toughie because it sort of throws the whole premise of the universe into chaos. My conception is that in the altverse, there were never any Time Lords (since they existed in all universes at once, and once detroyed and erased from history in one, that goes for all), so there was never any intelligent life on alt!Gallifrey. And it was always something that planetologists were bemused by, since it seems to be habital and one would think that there really should have been some sort of higher life form evolving there.
So, if alt!Gallifrey did have some sort of sign of previous intelligent life, I would predict aaaaangst of an even more epic level, on the Doctor's part. I think he'd have to know, whether it was the Time Lords and if so whether this "impossibility" would create a chink that would allow him to bring them back. Which would change the end of the story in all sorts of ways that I would be spoiling you for if I told you. So... maybe later!

What if Crede had thought (or known) that there had been signs of previous intelligent life on Alt!Gallifrey, and had told the Doctor this?
