First, congrats on making it through. Second, I guessed right! I guessed right! I just knew this one had to be yours!

I swear, 75% of the fun of this is trying to guess who wrote what. And I was soooo wrong about several of them, I just found out! With this, I was thinking that no one would know it was me, but then I thought, "Yeah, watch, you'll post it and *everyone* will go LOL OF COURSE THAT WAS YOU!"

Oo, I really liked this. I'm still a little confused...but I loved the whole idea!

I didn't read fast enough to vote this round (I've been using my week off to do as little as I possibly can, including reading), but I did read this one. I have to admit, I gave it a very medium score. As I was reading it, I really liked it, it had a great mood and "feel" to it, beautiful writing, and I found it incredibly intriguing -- and then I got to the end and went, "What? Did I miss something? What just happened?" So yeah, it may just be my own unwillingness to engage my brain between semesters, but I got completely lost at the end. :-(

This is what I mean when I say I'm rubbish at writing to a certain word-count! I think if I'd have been able to make this twice as long, it would have been more accessible, but the word limit was 1400 and my addled brain went, "We can make this work! I just know it!" Buuuuut, mileage my vary on that. :)

Wow - count me in the camp that never, ever, ever would have guessed that was you. And I feel almost like I owe you an apology for that!

I liked this one. I liked the other worldly mystery of it, while at the same time I felt like it was operating way over my head. Rereading it now, I think my brainwaves are starting to reach its level, and I think I got it a lot more.

I bet it will be appreciated a lot more out here on its own. You're brain has to be operating at full capacity, and that is hard when reading in a binge of 20 other stories.

I had yours pegged totally wrong as well! There were a couple people that I had a pretty good inkling and turned out to be right, but mostly when the reveal came I was like, "OMG nowai!"

I figured if I was going to go all high concept and impenetrable, really best to do that on the first round when there are lots of fics and the chances of everyone hating on mine were slimmer. Still though *phew* there but for the grace of only three more people hating it! Yikes! I'd best get back to the plotty sci-fi with the shagging, stat!

Heh, seriously? I kinda felt like mine wouldn't be more obvious if I'd planted a flag with my name on it. And when I read it over to my friend, dreamylyfe she even said, "I thought the idea was these were anonymous." To which I was like, "Dude, this is all I've got."

I figured if I was going to go all high concept and impenetrable, really best to do that on the first round when there are lots of fics and the chances of everyone hating on mine were slimmer.

Sporfle! I kind of had the same attitude - only without the high concept good intentions. More that I really had to work at this one for some reason, but counting on the fact that it was harmless enough not to draw attention.

Don't you dare let us put you back in any box! I would have loved to see this story in a slightly longer version. So if they ever come out with a longer word count, and you feel motivated to go all high concept again, you just go to town! Though, I do appreciate the desire for safety. Hee.

I didn't get a chance to finish reading all the fics in time to vote, but I remember reading this one, being a bit confused (who is the mystery doppelganger?), and feeling the angst. It would have made my short list to "keep" had I had enough time to read the second stories post.

It now occurs to me... I wonder if people would have gotten the idea a bit better if I'd included a short definition of what a pocket universe is? *ponders* Actually, really, this is more along the lines of a "tangent universe" a la Donnie Darko, but that's an even *more* obscure sci-fi term.

There were a really daunting number of fics for that first round. The next round will have fewer (or should have) and the word limit is 1000 words rather than 1400 (hoshit!). It still took me a couple days of grabbing time here and there and taking notes to read them all. I do really like (after the fact, after I take my notes and decide on my votes) trying to figure out who wrote what though. And I was so wrong about several of them this time around!
