Captain’s Log,

The US female fencing team has swept the saber event, winning the gold, silver, and bronze medals. It comes as no surprise, but with great delight, that the gold and silver medal winners are both left-handed. Yes indeed, that tickles me.

Idealism started it. In Unreal Tournament, we were both so passionate about pure sportsmanship in pursuit of perfect fun that we ostracized ourselves by relentlessly fighting against "lamers", or people who break the rules with unsportsmanlike conduct. My idealism's extremities might come from my refusal to accept certain things, like death, reality, or suffering. Perhaps in UT, we both saw things as they should be, not as they are. And we had enough of George Bernard Shaw's "unreasonableness" to both end up as enemies of that CTF community because our justice was so impartial, and our desire for perfect play so uncompromising. I cannot even play there anymore, as an entire group of people will contact each other and come into my games to disrupt them out of spite from my short tenure as a moderator.

Wha, I can't edit my comments...

If I had one trait I'd like to be at the front of my...what, image, charisma, dealings with people, etc., it'd be the springtime of youth. And I love that in other people, rare as it may be, because it creates positive feedback and encouragement. Still, it's hard to be the electrifying Zell Dincht in the room because of my own introversion and proneness to negativity in dealing with obstacles. I'm also not very good at pushing friends (mostly casual or good friends, but even the best sometimes) in regards to their problems. Sometimes I fear that probing into a friend's problems or struggles may be regarded as invasive, or that encouraging them (which often does benefit from the use of things like "are you so pathetic as to [fail]" and other taunts) may be construed as annoying or hostile.

I need to get over it. I've made a fun little hobby out of cleverly asking people their dreams or prime desires, and I helped resolve the A situation precisely because J harshly told me that I had become pathetic.
