This is great, well done. I like the mix, Jack hurt/comfort, which is such a treat, and the emotions are really evocative. Then the mission is interesting, your descriptions are great.

I think the first thing that caught me about this story was just the attention to detail. Not just the understanding of mining (though, as someone from the Appalachian coal fields, I did love that), but to the Welsh countryside in general.

It reminded me of that first visual wow moment I had when watching Countrycide. In the story, I could picture all the rolling hills and grassy expanses. In the tunnel, I could feel the clammy darkness and smell dirt because of Jack's reactions.

It was a great a story. Well thought out, well executed and the perfect length.
