To start with something less serious:

The Watson moustache! o_O What do you think? I'm NOT fan :P

I don't know if it's more hilarious or ugly. For some reason he suddenly seems really Watson-ish and not like John at all. Also, he looks older.

I'm glad you like this idea and I hope we will get more lively here :) Personally, I feel safe here on LJ and especially in this comm. Tumblr is really a scary place right now.

I still hope that the moustache is not a reall, lasting thing. Apparently he wasn't wearing one on the set yesterday...so.
Ugh, I don't want it to stay on his face..nope.

You are right about not changing much usually *nods*

I like this!

I've read at least one fic where Mary was Moran and had a long term relationship with John, and I've seen several where John fakes his death, but never combined. It needs to happen.

OH, what if it's a really LONG game, and we think she's just Mary, and there's regular Sherlock stuff and they get married and people freak out, and then we get to the last episode, and THEN we find out that Mary was Moran and she was biding her time, wanting to get as close as possible before hurting one or the other or both (maybe she really did genuinely fall in love but she HAS to do something at some point), and then John has to kill her to save Sherlock!

Oh god, is this what my brain is going to deal with for the next 9 months? Where's the wine?

The more I think about this theory, the more I like it... :D I mean, everything fits so far! Even the f***ing key word. And this seems to be very Gatiss-like twist, actually. I feel smug, hehe.

I was thinking about something similar to what you said as well. That would be... O_O Like maybe we will really find out in the last ep...OMG, OMG, so that would be the nerve-ending finale?

I need to hibernate for at least 8 months, or I'm going to explode soon :P

*shares some wine*

Thankfully, I think John looks great in a moustache. (Although I don't want it to stay around too long.) I also think it's fabulous that Moffat and Gatiss did yet another little homage to ACD canon by giving Watson a moustache. They are so thoughtful and clever in the way they honor ACD's books as well as previous versions (movies, etc.) throughout all of their episodes. Wonderful.

I think it's both a joke (because MF himself said in past that he wouldn't be fond of having the moustache in the role and that it's just not fitting for John somehow) and a friendly nod to ACD canon.

That said. I HOPE it goes away. Really. Soon. Preferably in that bonfire, lol :p

This. Well, except that I'm not hating on the moustache quite as much as other folks, though I do understand the hating. I had a little, "Aw, look, they're doing canon Watson" reaction to it. But Freeman is right, it's just not quite right for this iteration, both the character and the times. I mean, there just aren't a lot of folks these days walking around with the caterpillar 'stache, except for hipsters trying to do it ironically. And John is most definitely not a hipster.

I am not happy with Lestrades haircut. It makes him look really really old. Also dislike Anderson's beard. :(

I just got the feeling like they wanted to perhaps show the passage of time-John, now Anderson and Lestrade, too. It does make Lestrade look a bit older, yeah.

I am crossing my fingers that it was less than 3 years of time that Sherlock has been "dead". Unfortunately, it looks like a decade on Lestrade.

I am guessing 12-18 months to give John time to mourn and then get a life and so he can be mad when Sherlock does come back.

But, yeah, Lestrade has aged. I suppose his job got harder without Sherlock there to help him out. And we don't really know he dealt with not just the "death" but the destruction of the reputation of someone he trusted. Kind of wearing, I guess, for someone in his position.
