I second that emotion. Life sans love sucks.

There's not much that you can do about it either, other than not thinking about it (which of course only ignores it and doesn't actually help).

I spent the last year not thinking about it, it doesn't actually help much. Being a hopeless romantic doesn't help. Shhh don't tell anyone. ;-)

I used to laugh at the girls back home who were sighing over "More than words" and finding it "so romantic"... I was thinking, are these people not listening at all?? The guy is saying "I don't believe a word you're saying, so prove it to me." It's the perfect anthem for the hormone-laden teenage boys talking their "girlfriends" into having sex with them to prove their "love". Disgusting, IMNSHO.

Well I mean, it is saying that actions speak louder than words. That action could be sex....but it doesn't have to be. Not that I would mind terribly at this juncture.

Right. There's a difference between "having sex" and "making love" and it makes all the difference in the world.

It's kind of like craving intimacy and closeness and not caring in the least about any physical pleasure that may come with it, but that doesn't begin to describe it.

Love (lack thereof) is why masturbation is no fun.

Agreed it's disgusting, but really that has nothing to do with love, just the opposite in fact. What you described has everything to do with people being not at all in love (and being really bad at life in general).

It's like the difference between going to church and actually believing in something. Just because you go to church doesn't mean you have faith, just because you have sex (or even think of someone romantically) doesn't mean it has anything to do with love. But that does not mean that love doesn't exist.

It just means that people are so bad at life it's not even funny.

P.S. I didn't believe love existed either until I experienced it. I feel bad for all the people who never experience it (which is a lot) and especially so for those who think they have love but really have no idea what it is.

And as far as love is concerned, truer words were never spoken than Al Pacino's line from "The Devil's Advocate": "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate."
